WARNING IF YOU ARE NOT BLACK YOU WILL GET BOOTED IN THE PARKING LOT NEXT TO CAFE 428.
I just bought a home in the ole forth ward on Boulevard. I had heard of a cafe that feed the homelss and they need help as far as kitchen staff.
A friend of mine and I went to check it out to see how we could help. I said let go get coffee and Javaology and talk to the foks at 428. So we met up parked in the parking lot beside cafe 428. unknowing if we were white and parked in the lot we would get booted. Why do I say this.
Two black men pulled as we were getting out of our cars. They parked in the same lot as we did. We were tlaking to the staff about how we could help and the copule had breakfast and left. We left walked out and talked on the side walk and watched the black copule walk drive away. We then went to Javaology and had Coffe. When we got back to our cars they were booted and we had coffee in our hands. So you tell me whats wrong with this picture. We talked to the owner of Javaology he could not do nothing about it. But he does rent the lot. Hummmm Lets see you rent the lot you cannot do anything about it. And we were trying to find out information to support the area. We get a boot slaped on our cars when we try to help.
Can we say Racial discrimination because we are white.

Re: JAVAOLGY
Sat, April 28, 2007 - 12:53 PMI've been in with different friends at different times and have had my friends snubbed.
I'm still not sure why, but the first time my friend (black female) was given a dirty look (include sneer) when she asked about the job they were hiring for. I later went in when another friend (white male) insisted that we go there (besides I had some money on my account there still) and his drink was wrong not one, not two, but 3 times and was given his money back because apparently he was 'bothersome'.
With that attitude, little-to-no parking and my account being empty, I haven't given them a third chance.

Re: JAVAOLGY
Wed, May 2, 2007 - 9:54 PMI was there over the weekend and I had this post in mind Wayne.
If you parked in the lot that is clearly marked Javaology (even though it's right behind 458) and went to 458 while you were parked in the coffee house's lot they'd have the right to tow/boot you wouldn't they?
Sunday was the first time I'd ever been to Javaology (not in L5P btw) and they were kinda assholes but maybe I was looking for it.
Only case in point - my fellow patron (who I went with), Shaunette, was trying to make conversation about them having "morningstar" sausages...she "really likes their products" she tells him, but mr barista was not up for conversation despite seeming to have a moment between the foam cycle and whatever. Some people are just akward, not so good at chit-chat - okay...but if you knew how sweet Shaunette is you'd want to smack his face.
So I kinda agree that they're not very nice but I think it's equal opportunity.
